Dr. Sophia Capo, O.D., FAAO
Dr. Sophia Capo is passionate about optimizing visual function and helping patients see and perform at their best. She is a residency-trained optometrist, having completed an additional year of specialized training in pediatrics and vision rehabilitation.
Dr. Capo earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo and completed her residency at the Michigan College of Optometry. Following her residency, she received the Terrance Ingraham Award for Excellence in Pediatric Optometry.
She later earned her Fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), reflecting her commitment to evidence-based care, ongoing research, and advanced clinical training. Dr. Capo has lectured internationally and continues to stay at the forefront of pediatric and rehabilitative optometry.
Dr. Capo was recently named BC Young Optometrist of the Year by BC Doctors of Optometry. This award recognizes optometrists within their first 10 years of practice who demonstrate leadership in the profession, a strong commitment to patient care, and meaningful contributions to their community.
Her clinical focus includes pediatric eye care, vision therapy, and neuro-optometric rehabilitation. She works closely with healthcare providers across disciplines, including ophthalmology, neurology, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation teams, to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.
Dr. Capo was born and raised in Vaughan, Ontario, and now calls Kelowna home. Outside the clinic, she enjoys hiking and skiing in the mountains.
